Capacitive Keyboards

These are the natural development of membrane keyboards.

“Capacitive touch” technology is able to sense touch, eliminating the need for the mechanical and metal actuators that are normally used in traditional keyboards.

Frontpiece Panel

With OXI Group you can get that special “touch” thanks to the various materials that can be used to produce keyboards designed for every type of environment. It’s also possible to create a custom design highlighting the incredible details and the remarkable aesthetic impact of the capacitive keyboard.

Plastic Materials

Plexiglass, Polycarbonate and Methacrylate

Plastic materials enable the creation of frontpieces that are particularly resistant to impact and falls. With variable thicknesses from 1 mm upwards, they can be printed with digital techniques for impressive graphics.

Plastic materials are cheaper and more easily available than glass but are equally effective for an excellent capacitive panel solution.
All printing and mechanical processes are carried out in the OXI Group’s production departments in order to guarantee full respect of the customer’s project concept.

Glass is the most prestigious material for all capacitive systems; as well as ensuring perfect touch sensitivity, the brilliance of glass is enhanced by the backlight, guaranteeing an extremely elegant and visually stunning interface.

OXI Group processes glass with thicknesses less than one millimetre for high quality lance covers. Greater thicknesses are used for all systems where the robustness must guarantee the functionality. The glass is chemically hardened, with mechanical hardening, anti-reflective treatments, and printed via screen printing or digital printing. For the most sophisticated applications, Gorilla Glass can be used in various thicknesses.
Thanks to our considerable experience, OXI Group is at the complete disposal of our clients for the realisation of projects that are increasingly innovative and in step with the technology of the future.

Stainless Steel

OXI Group’s stainless steel capacitive keypads are today the flagship for human-machine interfaces where the characteristics of robustness are combined with high design features.

The choice of the best steels, together with specially designed and tested electronics, and our over ten years of experience in metal working, the field of screen printing and related electronics, allow us to create an extremely appealing device, guaranteeing our customers maximum reliability for a high-end product. Our technical department is available for technical details and product configuration.

The sensor is the interface element between the frontpiece and electronic board of a capacitive system.

It is made of polyester film using the latest technologies for both conductive inks (nanotechnologies) and printing techniques that enable the creation of thin conductive tracks only a few microns thick.

All the sensors built by OXI Group are tested with special equipment that verify their perfect functioning, guaranteeing the capacitive system the highest quality performance.

Led Backlighting

In touch technology systems, backlighting offers a customisable aesthetic effect. The LEDs used make it possible to obtain a “play of light” for each type of keyboard.

The advantages of using them are: creation of a wide range of colours using RGB technology, the possibility to vary the light intensity freely, reduced consumption in terms of current, the suitability for wireless applications, and reduced consumption in terms of voltage for simpler power management and fewer issues.

The OXI Group R&D department has just developed the possibility of achieving customisable lighting by differentiating each key using specific hardware and firmware techniques.

Electronic Control Boards

The development of dedicated electronics is essential for touch technology systems.

At the centre of the electronics there is a micro-controller which is adequately programmed to act as interface between human and machine.

The micro-controller has the difficult task of managing a considerable flow of data originating from the sensors and reworking them to allow communication between the keyboard and the devices to be controlled.

OXI Group studies and designs electronic boards to offer cutting-edge products that are high-performing and compatible with the customer’s end system, implementing communication protocols such as I2C or SPI, or sending ON/OFF or PWM (pulse-width modulation) “clean signals” for the activation of power or lighting devices.
